Tucked away in the shadow of the tenement houses at Piwna 9, the Church of St. Martin is one of the oldest in Warsaw. For KIK, however, it is something more than "just" a significant landmark on the city's map — it is above all one of the most important places of encounter with God and prayer for our community.
We have been coming here for many years — for club Masses, communal prayer, retreats, and pastoral group meetings. It is also the home of "Baranki" (Little Lambs), a special programme preparing children for the sacraments of First Confession and First Holy Communion, in which many KIK families take part.
For centuries, the Church of St. Martin belonged to Augsburg Lutherans, making it a symbol of Warsaw's multi-denominational past. That history has not been forgotten — ecumenical services are held here to this day, where Catholics and Protestants pray together, reminding us that above all divisions there is a shared faith in Christ.
