The activities of the Santa Maria Sailing Club focus on organising sailing camps for children and young people. Every year, two programmes are offered: : the First Tacks beginners' school and the Masurian cruises. Every two years, we also organise a training course leading to a yacht sailing certificate. We currently own eight Omega dinghies - Biała, Ruda, Nova, Papa Smerf, Tita, Piękność dnia, Delta and Stara - eleven Optimist dinghies, and a motorboat named Konserwa. Most of these boats have been with the Club from the very beginning and are restored by us before each season.
The primary aim of our section is to promote sailing and to build a club community that values the educational benefits of the sport. We would like to attract more people to the Club, increase the number of camp participants, and perhaps the number of camps themselves - expand the number of bosuns, and bring up the next generation of leaders. It is important to us that new members join us and continue our work, helping the Club to grow and develop further.
Alongside the bosuns, the restoration work is carried out by participants of the Masurian cruises and sailing courses , who are required to contribute eight hours of work to the Club. In this way, we aim to teach them how to work with boats and to instil a sense of responsibility and care for the equipment. Parents are increasingly joining in as well, helping to build particularly strong bonds.Working together towards these hours also fosters co-operation - a skill of the utmost importance when out on the water.
