On the 50th anniversary of its founding, the Club's Board established the annual "Pontifici" award, meaning "Builder of Bridges." Each year, on October 24th, the title of Pontifex is awarded to one person "for merit in promoting the values of the common good, dialogue, and dedication to others." These values have been recognized as extremely important in the experience of the members of the Club of Catholic Intelligentsia.
The award committee consists of all honorary members of the Club, and they decide who will receive the award in a given year. Currently (October 2023), the honorary members are: Halina Bortnowska, Paweł Broszkowski, Ambassador Prof. Krzysztof Byrski, Prof. Kazimierz Czapliński, Ambassador Stefan Frankiewicz, Prof. Andrzej Friszke, Rev. Dr. Andrzej Gałka, Editor Cezary Gawryś, Dr. Hab. Alicja Gronau-Osińska, Marian Jaroszewski, Elżbieta Jaworska, Zofia Kozłowska, Dr. Stanisław Latek, Anna Łoskot, Krzysztof Łoskot, Jacek Michałowski, editor Jacek Moskwa, editor Zbigniew Nosowski, Dr. Paweł Rościszewski, Dr. Henryk Rutkowski, editor Jan Turnau, Marshal Andrzej Wielowieyski (Knight of the Order of the White Eagle), and Dr. Krzysztof Ziołkowski.
The award is a statuette depicting two faces, distinct yet constituting a whole, like individual pages constituting a single book. On the back is a quote from Genesis, in four languages (Hebrew, Greek, Latin, and Polish):
I don't know. Am I my brother's keeper?
The statuette was designed by Professor Magdalena Schmidt-Góra.
